At Heart Centered You, I follow a methodology of both spiritual and scientific teachings. With increased awareness and empowerment, we can think and feel our way through any challenge (you don’t have to be a granola-eating yogi to do this!)

You see, we were all born with a brain programmed for survival. We didn’t arrive with habits, perceptions, fears or beliefs – these were learned through our exposure to life via relationships, reading books, going to school, work and more. These experiences reinforced certain scripts about how life is supposed to be. These agreements and assumptions were then encoded into our subconscious and now drive our everyday thoughts and decision making. However, just like a computer or phone that holds data needs to be updated, so do our brains!

Did you know we can actually reprogram the brain out of old thought patterns and use what’s called neuroplasticity to create new pathways and neuron connections? We CAN and you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to understand it!

Our ability to focus, instill self-confidence and form new habits are all neural muscles that need to be worked out, just like the body. When we don’t, we run into neural dissonance – otherwise known as brain chaos or misalignment.

We’ve all been there. You know what you need to do but you can’t seem to get there, you feel stuck or you find yourself making decisions from a place of fear or lack. You give up. This happens because our subconscious brain (where our fears, beliefs, and habits reside) and conscious brain (where our goal setting happens) are not aligned and no amount of willpower can override this. We have to introduce some neural tension (good stress) to build excitement and then utilize visualization and meditation to prime the brain with mental rehearsal. THIS creates neural cohesion (alignment of the subconscious and conscious brain) and is why using spiritual based teachings such as the law of attraction and guided visualization work so well. They enable us to practice real life and the new goals, habits, and beliefs we want in it before we live it, thus normalizing the new unfamiliar patterns and paving the way for change that sticks!

I’m Deb…Foundational Life Coach, Certified Yoga Nidra Meditation Instructor and one busy mama!! Years ago, as a mom of two young boys, I found myself completely overwhelmed by life’s demands, society’s expectations and my own definition of what it meant to be a good mom. I prided myself on being able to do it all…but it broke my spirit as I kept ignoring my own needs in order to pull it off. After a few years of trial and error via therapy, medication and then meditation and study…I stepped into my sense of self, found my voice and created Heart Centered You, a life coaching practice helping ambitious but conflicted goal setters, just like you…achieve a centered, supported life ripe for making positive change that sticks!
